A crucial, rhythmic, poetic, consciousness raiser and “Urban Griot” from Liverpool, England.
As a writer and performer Levi has worked locally, nationally and internationally, from Africa to the Caribbean and Europe to America.
Levi has three collections of his poetry published. “Duboetry” published by The Windows Project, “Liverpool Experience” published by Michael Schwinn Publishers. Also “Rhyme Don’t Pay” published by Headland Publications.
As a playwright Levi’s plays have been performed at the “Unity Theatre” in Liverpool, “The Everyman Theatre” in Liverpool, “The Playhouse Theatre” in Liverpool and “The Blackheath Theatre” in Stafford.
Levi continues to work with many artiste, from different art forms and in various mediums, i.e. TV, Radio, Theatre, Clubs, Stage, Community Centres and Art Centres, etc.
Levi also works in education running creative writing workshops in schools, colleges, universities, youth centres, prisons and libraries.
Levi undertakes residencies as part of his educational work.
Levi’s musical work has ranged from working with Ghanaian drum and dance ensemble “Delado” to the “Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra” From Urban Strawberry Lunch” to his own reggae fusion band “Ministry of Love”.
Levi has recently completed a successful trip to Jordan, working for The British Council, with Brian Patten
Euro MP, Neil Kinnock described Levi’s poetry as “Fantastic Poetry,” when Levi performed at the European Parliament in Brussels.
Levi has completed a successful tour of Britain and Europe with Urban Strawberry Lunch, on their “SONIC TOUR 2001.” A recent trip to Singapore with USL proved, not only to be a huge success, but a uplifting experience.
Levi is near completion of his next collection of poetry “From the Page to the Stage.”
